The idea for this web site came about as my kids started to leave home.

I was often on the receiving end of phone calls and/or text messages asking initially for recipes, then for new ideas to help them to put a cheap, nourishing meal on the table to feed hungry flatties, a group of mates, their family or just themselves.

It seemed to make sense to gather the recipes and kitchen hacks in one place that they could all reach, with an easy way of continuing to add new ideas and recipes. The Tinned Tomato is that place.

And, like all good food it is best shared.
